Michelin Pilot Power 2CT
Michelin Pilot Power 2CT includes dual-compound technology that allows for angles of lean of over 51° giving a remarkably high performance for a tyre which is designed for road use. The Pilot Power 2CT is the very first road-legal tyre to achieve this degree of performance enabling it to taking advantage of the sophisticated modern high performance bikes.
At first glance it is indistinguishable to the original Pilot Power but under the surface the Pilot Power 2CT belies a groundbreaking dual compound technology derived from Moto GP, offering unequalled angles of lean having a maximum of 51.2° on a dry racetrack along with 43° on a wet track.
Michelin Racing Synthetic Elastomers (MRSE) incorporates dual rubber compounds together with High Tech Synthetic Compound (HTSC) resins to provide a very fast warm-up time, on the track the is claimed to allowing you to gain a high level of confidence, even in the first corner.
This level of performance sets a new standard for motorcycle tyres designed for road use. In comparison - a typical maximum lean angle for a Moto GP rider on racing slicks is said to be a maximum of 55° - a difference in lean angle of only 3.8°
The technology behind Michelin Pilot Power 2CT have been highly successful in the Moto GP racing series. The 2CT dual compound technology with softer compound rubber on the outer contact areas provide outstanding grip, along with a far firmer rubber compound in the middle contact area.
The end result is a motorcycle tyre with the responsiveness which you could expect from a racetrack tyre providing a high level of feedback and progressive feel when the bike is at full lean.
Pilot Power 2CT by Michelin came first in a recent sports tyre test by Motorrad's and RIDE magazine voted it to be the best tyre in it class.
